24 Proms programmes to be broadcast on BBC TV and BBC iPlayer this summer (2024)

Last year, television audiences for the Proms were the strongest we’ve seen in years, and this year promises to be an equally glorious celebration of the highest calibre music-making across BBC TV and iPlayer.

The 2024 BBC Proms season, running from Friday 19 July until Saturday 14 September, offers eight weeks of world-class music from leading orchestras, conductors and soloists from the UK and around the world. The BBC will broadcast 24 programmes across BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, CBeebies and BBC iPlayer, and every Prom will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds. From the First Night of the Proms, presented by Clive Myrie, to the world-famous Last Night of the Proms, presented by Katie Derham, all 24 Proms will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

This year’s line-up of TV presenters are: Clive Myrie, Katie Derham, Petroc Trelawny, Georgia Mann, Katya Adler, Clara Amfo, Jess Gillam, Andi Oliver, Tom Service and Linton Stephens, who makes his BBC Proms TV presenting debut.

In 2023, the BBC Proms saw record-breaking figures online, with more than double the number of signed-in accounts accessing BBC Proms content on iPlayer and BBC Sounds compared to 2022. Nearly one million people watched the First Night of the Proms on BBC Two, which was the First Night’s strongest overnight TV audience since 2009. During the opening weekend, Proms content reached 3.2 million on TV.

This year, Clive Myrie returns to present the First Night of the Proms on Friday 19 July, which will be broadcast that same evening on BBC Two. Elim Chan conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers and BBC Symphony Chorus, with pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason and soprano Sophie Bevan, performing a compelling programme including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto.

Suzy Klein, Head of BBC Arts and Classical Music TV, says: “This summer BBC audiences will be able to enjoy 24 Proms programmes celebrating the excellence and range of this great music festival - from the Halle performing Mahler and Aurora Orchestra playing Beethoven’s Ninth by heart, to Florence Welch’s debut at the Proms. Last year, television audiences for the Proms were the strongest we’ve seen in years, and this year promises to be an equally glorious celebration of the highest calibre music-making across BBC TV and iPlayer.”
